A Tale Dark & Grimm by Adam Gidwitz

5.0

This was SUCH a good interpretation of Hansel and Gretel. I loved watching them grew into these badass characters who solved problems but also struggled themselves. The story did not hold back from violence and gore and the narrator was a sass master. Not only that, but it had great concepts and discussed feelings that can be hard to put into writing, like struggling to go back to a home you didn't feel comfortable in or dealing with the guilt of a wrong decision. I can't wait to see how the next book in the series plays out. I can only hope it keeps up the adventure, thoughtfulness, and Grimm.
