Emma reminds me of my first experience on a plane as well as going to a great destination with a great friend. It’s a great way to connect with a main character but that’s as far as it went for me even though at times it seemed se included the reader in her circle. Ryder hasn’t had a good day and his night wasn’t much better. It seemed as if he also included the reader in his circle.

Once in a while, I got a chuckle and I never feel that’s a bad thing but there were times where I just got confused. For most of the book, I felt like I was reading two separate stories. I kept waiting for that moment when the two would meld into one. For me, that didn’t come until we are almost to the end. At one point I felt that maybe things were going to turn around but then I was back to feeling like there were two stories going on. It’s possible it was because I didn’t feel a connection with our main characters.

I was hoping that if I was patient enough that the feeling would change but it just didn’t work for me. Every time that I tried to see these two as a couple. I liked reading about their lives but each on their own. One issue I had with Ryder is that I thought he was going to be a real bad*ss, based on his job, but I couldn’t connect him with the word “arrogant”. On a happy note, I loved the ending. Just because I wasn’t feeling this author’s latest book doesn’t mean I won’t check out more of her work.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
