This is such a cute YA romance with fake dating.
Bethany is known as Crybaby Bethany after busting out crying when she finds out her friends had sex. She is a late bloomer and cries over things that are cute, sad, mad you name it. She is the only one without a date to Homecoming in her friend group. Her best friend offers up her boyfriend, Jacob and right before the dance her friend breaks up with Jacob and the 2 of them make a pact to go anyways but also fake date.
Jacob needs to get some credit that he is not always dumped and Bethany needs to show the guy she is crushing on that she is not a crybaby.
The friendships, fake dating, conversations about going along with your parents desired plans vs your own and growing up just all worked together for such a cute YA book.
Fat rep: Bethany is fat, she plays sports and loves to cook. There was some comments about health and eating during basketball season by her mom that is addressed but overall Bethany is a happy confident in her body teen.
