Dirty Red by Tarryn Fisher
5.0
It takes a lot for me to give a book five full stars, but this devastating, love-gone-wrong trilogy has won me over completely. As I've said before with my review of the first book, what a freaking roller coaster of turmoil and shattered emotions! I'm astounded..wondering how much more these characters can go through, why they've chosen the path in life they have, and how they can live with themselves after all the pain they inflict on each other.
Dirty Red didn't disappoint! I was wary of approaching a story about Leah, because of course, I was routing for Caleb and Olivia since they got together. Leah was someone I knew I'd hate, but also feel sympathy for.. And she does exactly that throughout this whole story. It sucks to be so unloved all through your life by the few people who are supposed to love you unconditionally. She has her reasons for her seemingly unjustifiable actions, and she has this need to makes everything about winning. I kept telling her to just drop everything and walk away, she thought she won Caleb, but she has never and will never have his unconditional love, so just give up and find someone who will choose her first. She never listened. I understood why she kept fighting so desperately to have something for herself, someplace she belonged, but sometimes there needs to be a line drawn; a stopping point. The way she ended her tale made an ominous chill run down my spine. Once again, I'm terrified to continue, but here I go onto book three.
