JL Seegars writing is so heartbreakingly good that it should be criminal. My friend Elisa said it best ‘she writes gut-wrenching so well’. Chris and Mallory’s relationship isn’t the only thing that has developed. Their author has found a nice balance between making her writing detailed without sounding verbose. Like her characters, she has grown and it’s so fulfilling to see.

I found myself more invested in Chris’s storyline and him founding out the truth about his mom’s death to be a *tad more interesting than his moments with Mallory. Of course, there is moving dialogue and searing intimate moments between the two of them, but seeing how the author has added even more depth to Christopher stole the show for me. I actually may be in the minority with this, but I am not angry at Chris for the decision he made at the end of this book. Each decision he has made in regards to Mallory and his own life had good intention behind it, but it’s important to realize that many of his choices were also fueled by misplaced guilt he feels. If Chris fails to get a handle on this, it will continue to affect how he navigates his life. Sometimes you have to say goodbye to make room for something better.

Revive Me is a filler like a temporary salve to a wound. You will grieve this couple’s possibilities like Mallory grieves her loss of self, lost love, and a loved one. That’s the tricky thing about grief, sometimes it takes the loss of one thing to finally be able to feel the absence of another. This novel exemplifies how journeys to and through love aren’t easy and a happy destination is not guaranteed, but what you learn along the way makes it all worth it.
