The Fall of Babel by Josiah Bancroft

2.0

Babel Falls, the fourth and final entry into the Books of Babel, is not as bad as I thought, as I had seen some pretty negative reviews, but it's still not that good. It starts off by focusing on a character who was absent from book 3, but shouldn't have been. It then focuses on what feels like the main characters, but it feels like they are doing side quests before the final battle.

There is a great build-up though leading to what should be a great revelation. But it's not, it's confusing. Mysteries, at the end of the series, should be about small things, that build wonder into the world. They shouldn't be about the main plot points, leaving you with more questions than you started.

I feel like I'm complaining, as I like reading most of the book. While I was reading most of the book, I thought, "wow, im liking this a lot, the end must really not be that good to leave such negative thoughts."

Reflecting on the confusing ending, and the disjointed lead-up to that ending, I'm left disappointed.
