A big plus is that it took ~2 hours to finish, so for my rush to double my books read this year, it's a winner.
Unfortunately that's about all it's good for. A guy gets killed because of a fish. And even though main character Rylie acknowledges that it's stupid, it's just too stupid.
Rylie as a character isn't very likeable either. She's a judgemental b-word that is dealing with her now ex-boyfriend of 5 years cheating on her....and going gaga over a married man. Not to mention her weird "mark your territory" attitude toward high school boyfriend Luke, who she works with and I'm assuming will eventually get with at the end of the series? This girl is toxic. And the "witty" observations about the other characters - especially other female characters is gross.
The mystery...is stupid. She makes dumb decisions because why? The trope? I dunno.
And then it ends with very little satisfaction, except you find out who is willing to kill over a fish. A fish.
