I Scream Koans: The Secret Zen Wisdom of Children's Literature by Brian Rock

1.0

Mind-numbingly stupid. There's plenty of interesting analysis and novel readings to be had in children's literature but this is very much not that. The quotes are generally statements of the explicit morals of the stories, and the discussion is vague and surface level.

A highlight is that even the author appears to have been bored by the gimmick and stops offering commentary several quotes from the end with a patronising suggestion that we might like to come up with our own.
