Handling Mr. Harper by Elle Nicoll
5.0
Are you in your “He Falls First” era? Then let me introduce you to Drew. That man is the definition of falling first. Drew meets Sophie while on a double date (she wasn’t his date) and from that moment he knew he wanted her but despite his best efforts she would not go out with him. Fast forward four years and Sophia has just found out the guy she has been seeing is married. When she runs into Drew again they start something up pretty quickly. I was actually a little bit surprised at how easy it was, Drew didn’t even have to convince her this time.
When two pink lines appear on Sophie’s pregnancy test she doesn’t know what to do. How will this affect her job as a lawyer? Which of the two men are the baby’s dad? She is scared to tell Drew in fear that he will leave, but this man is the ultimate boyfriend and he is all in regardless of who the father is. Sounds like a perfect ending to wrap up their story? Nope, not with the way Elle tells stories. There are so many twists and turns, huge surprises, you honestly can’t even guess where the story is going to go. But Sophie is going to have to juggle keeping the two potential fathers happy, her job, her pregnancy, and her love life.
I was expecting a bit more angst before the story wrapped up. Elle is known for ripping your heart out before putting it back together but this was a bit easy. There was never a moment where I was like “how are they going to get through this?”. I was just expecting a bit more tension because of everything at risk.
Drew is a perfect hero, he really was excited for his role as a father despite the test results, and it even gave him a bit of pregnancy kink (and eventually a breeding kink too). I enjoyed finding out the backstory of Drew and why he felt the way he did about the paternity test. They also had the best communication that I have seen in any books and it made them even stronger as a couple.
