Protecting Mr. Fine by Lucy Lennox

4.0

Zane Hendley—aka Zee Barlos—is a rockstar in desperate need of protection, and Ryan Galloway (nicknamed Bear by Zee) is just the man for the job. Bear is a professional bodyguard assigned by Zee’s record label to keep him safe, but guarding Zee’s body turns out to be a lot easier than guarding his own heart. From the start, Bear’s feelings for Zee go way beyond professional, and, lucky for him, Zee feels the same.

What really shines in this story is the connection between Zee and Bear. Zee is such a genuinely kind person who constantly puts others before himself, even at his own expense. It’s both endearing and heartbreaking, especially when he insists, “I’m fine,” even when he’s clearly not. Bear sees right through it, though, and it’s so touching how protective he is—not just of Zee’s safety but of his heart.
The romance is such a sweet, slow build. Zee’s used to avoiding romantic risks because of the potential for scandal, but Bear makes him feel safe enough to open up. And Bear? He’s doing his best to keep things professional, but let’s be real—he’s a goner for Zee. Once their relationship crosses that line, the chemistry is off the charts.

Of course, it’s not all smooth sailing and the threats against Zee escalate, as does Bear’s determination to protect him.

Oh, and can we talk about the bear facts. Every chapter starts with a fun little bear fact from a podcast, and it’s such a cute and unique touch that made me smile every time.

If you’re a fan of bodyguard romances, sweet rockstars, and protective heroes, this one is definitely worth a read.
