The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
5.0
I loved this book! It started out a little slow and I wasn't sure I was going to like it. The more I read the more I found things to love about this book. It is such a raw, honest look at depression and suicidal thoughts. It is very sad, but so important. I haven't read a book that so accurately shows a depressive mind set. I didn't know anything about Sylvia Plath's life until I looked into it after reading this book. It is heartbreaking to find out this is semi-autobiographical, but also not surprising. How else could it be such an accurate description? I'm so happy that Plath wrote and got this published. Anyone who wants to understand what depression feels like should read her story.
