For some reason this book hurt. More so than Dark Matter and Recursion, Upgrade felt like a possible reality and it scared the living shit out of me and made me deeply sad about the state of our world. Crouch has a wonderful way of making sci-fi/thrillers accessible and bingeable. I do wish we were able to spend more time with the characters, I did feel the ending was a tad rushed in this book. Even though after this book I’ll have to watch a comfort show to fall asleep, I’ll be back for more with the next book.
