For the most part, it was happier than I expected it to be. The author grew up in a very loving family who often set a great example for how to take care of each other and give support no matter what.
I was surprised how graphic the chapter on sex was considering it’s YA, but he makes a good point that keeping kids in the dark just puts them at greater risk when the time comes.  

Overall it was an easy read and I learned quite a bit!
