some moments were exhilarating (especially the last couple of chapters!) but overall it fell a little flat for me

i was a little surprised that we didn't did deeper into why it was blue eyes specifically, and brown eyes were "muddy" in the context of this otherwise very racism-focused text. maybe it was a "not everything needs to be spelled out" situation
