One for My Enemy by Olivie Blake
5.0
“She was as captivating as fear, as undeniable as hunger, and he had loved her then—and loved her now—for all the tremor and the fury that she was.”
Spurred on by their parents’ hatred, Masha and Dima walked away from each other twelve years ago. Will their younger siblings repeat the same cycle, or be able to bring about peace between the families?
Goddamn this was an emotional rollercoaster. Not to say I wasn’t expecting that, being a Romeo & Juliet adaption and all, but it hurt more than I anticipated.
The romance in this is absolutely chefs kiss. I was screaming, crying, throwing up waiting for the next scenes where I’d see my lovebirds together again.
Wholeheartedly recommend if you want a tragedy/romance that is beautifully written, delightfully tense, with some powerful af witchy women, and one of my favourite endings to a book ever.
BIG SPOILER:
“After all, the gift was obvious, wasn’t it? Marya and Dimitri had given Sasha and Lev the simplicity—the beautiful normality—that they themselves had never been permitted.”
Lives were ruined, Olivie!!!!
