3.0
decent read, probably aimed at younger readers
pros:
- romance between Ari and Jackson at least fairly natural, and foreshadowed from start, and Ari doesn't mess with the boys' hearts: she's never rly interesting in Law
- its a decent thriller, with clear stakes and a decent plot
cons:
- fairly unoriginal teen sci-fi, with a dystopia, a harsh father, a ball, a love triangle, etc.
- didn't like how Ari was set as different to Gretchen, who was barely outlined except that she liked clothes and was loyal to Ari
- Law also barely outlined
- some things were very predictable too and the writing doesn't blow you away
- the plot felt a bit shaky - Ari trusting everything on Jackson and tryna get some vague "strategy" felt a bit weak
(- its a series so the ending was inconclusive)
won't read the rest, but it passed the time
