Damaged Like Us by Krista Ritchie, Becca Ritchie

5.0

4.5 stars.

I have heard so many bad things about this series, so I wasn't going to start it but it's Maximoff and I absolutely loved him as a child, so I couldn't help myself. I have loved all Krista and Becca Ritchie books so far and this one was LGBT+. I talked about this series with Sara @ The Bibliophagist and while she doesn't love the later books she does enjoy the ones with Moffy and Farrow and it might have taken awhile but I finally got my copy of the first book.

I don't know if I loved Maximoff more as a child or as 20- something. He loves his family more than himself and would do anything for them. He's just so protective and I can't help but love him as much as I do. He has never had a normal life, growing up in the spotlight but that doesn't make him vain or selfish. He's one of the selfless person I have ever read about, even more than his aunt, Daisy. Moffy didn't even get a tattoo because he refuses to hurt his dad. Maximoff isn't perfect (even if it sometimes seems like it) but I love it how he tried his best not to become his parents addictions. He has never taken a drink and he stopped watching porn after three first times.

Farrow is five years older than Maximoff and he was named after two lead actors from The Great Gatsby. I kinda like the fact that no matter what career he would've picked-- he still would've been stuck with Moffy. Farrow is a Yale graduate and I love his relationship with Maximoff even before they started getting along. Farrow found it sexy how protective Moffy is over the people he loves.

In case I haven't mentioned it enough during my Addicted series read... I hate the media in this universe and the sad thing is that it's not that different in the real life. I hate how they made up that certain News and Moffy's whole family actually believed it just because their own past but the one relative Moffy doesn't get along with believed him the whole time. I can't wait to read more about Maximoff relationship to him in next book. Maximoff is very loveable but I also like the fact that there's a kin he doesn't get along with.

All in all Damaged Like Us was very enjoyable read but that might be because I went to it with my expectations very low. I could've given it full five stars if I didn't hate how almost no one believed Moffy when he told them that what Media said wasn't true. Moffy and Farrow were a great match and I shouldn't have been so afraid to read it just because it's bodyguard romance.
