Everyone Knows You Go Home by Natalia Sylvester
4.0
The book opens on the night of Isabel and Martín’s wedding, which is also Día de los Muertos. Her father-in-law’s spirit visits them on their wedding night and begins a journey of uncovering secrets. This book has dual timelines, and we have multiple POVs. With every POV, we learn more and more about our cast of characters. We uncover their hopes, secrets, and, ultimately, their dreams.
This book showcases that choosing to leave home is often their only option, whether because of war, violence, or better opportunities. I cried while reading this book, and when I wasn’t reading, I thought of these characters and their stories. It also made me reflect on the stories I’ve heard from friends and family.
