Poor Sirantha. I almost cried while reading this book it was so sad. Though, don't get me wrong, this series is still fantastic. Just be prepared before you read it that it's not a happy story.
Sirantha and March try to decide what they want to do after the mess from the previous book has settled down when Sirantha gets tapped to be an ambassador. She also finds out from her mother that all her funds are gone and unless she takes the ambassador job and purposefully flunks it, her mother get's killed by the Syndicate. Not that Jax has ever had any trouble botching a job, but could she really fail something that important on purpose? Add on to that, it seems like she's contracted some kind of illness. She's suddenly weak and fragile and doesn't heal as fast as she should. She loves March, but doesn't want him feeling like he should be attached to someone who may die, whether from her illness or jumping in grimspace.
I don't want to give away more, but there's quite a lot going on in this book just as much as the first in the series. The writing and characters are wonderful and you really feel for Sirantha. The ending does give you hope though for a happier future for the series, but I'm not crossing my fingers. I highly recommend this series and I'm totally hooked to it, just be warned that you might need some tissue while reading it.
