The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee

5.0

Preface: I continue to no longer be the target audience for YA books. Did that stop me from having a great time while cleaning my flat and listening to this on audiobook? Nope, not at all. It's a wild ride o f an adventure that started out a bit too blunt and on the nose for my taste, but soon picked up speed and heart as the actual adventure began. I wish there had been more maritime shenanigans, but nonetheless we had sapphics at sea and chaotic men in love, what more could you want from a book you turn to for fun and entertainment? I was prepared to give this 3-4 stars (because I just can't connect with YA books enough to warrant a higher rating from the only authority I turn to - my gut), but Felicity's monologue about the future she dreams of just won me over. Also I would marry Sim in a heartbeat. Either way: I am here for science-pirate girl gangs and big slobbery dogs.
