Princess on the Brink by Meg Cabot
3.0
I finished this reread in one sit because I needed some light drama.
Oh poor me, forgetting how heartwrenching the drama in this installment of The Princess Diaries is! I immediately started reading book 10 afterwards, so everything ends well after all.
Mia writes in a very easy to read style, I like the diary style from then to then very much. She is a bit fipsy, she often exaggerates and overthinks and overanalyses, which makes her very relatable to me.
Her struggles are real, in some way, and her solutions aren't. She needs to calm tf down and think before judging. It's nice to yell at someone sometimes.
What I really like about this series is Michael Moscowitz, the loveinterest. He's amazing in any way, just imagine the most perfect guy ever (with flaws!) and you got him. Although it's through Mia's eyes, and since she loves him to pieces, he's probably not that perfect after all. I like to imagine him being, though.
Michael Moscowitz is a keeper.
What I really hate about the series is John Paul Reynolds-Abernathy the Fourth. Even the name sounds horrible, such is his character. But judge for yourself. Judge him hard. I mean, fairly.
What I also loove about the series is that little girls who read it think they are reading some sort of modern fairytale, while also being confronted with die-hard feminism. Little girls are sort of converted into feminism by reading those seemingly conservative books, it's amazing.
The series is always worth a reread and I love revisiting the drama. I mean, I'm just human after all.
