Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson
3.5
The often-forgotten stepchild of The Cosmere, Warbreaker offers a compelling game of thrones with slight pacing issues. Sanderson again offers a unique magic system centered around colors, but frustratingly never seems as deep or fully established as Allomancy or Feruchemy in the Mistborn saga.
While pacing is its major flaw, continuity is a major concern. The book seems unfinished, and despite Sanderson's promise that more content is on the way, it's been 14 years since we have last visited th e planet of Nalthis.
While not the strongest entry in The Cosmere, fans of Sanderson's writing style will be entertained by a high low-stakes story with some of the most interesting supporting cast in modern day fantasy.
