The only thing I'll willingly give this book is that the last quarter made me quite emotional, but other than that I liked very little else. I did not enjoy the writing style, I did not connect with the characters except for maybe Raffy and Santangelo, and I just found how everything was structured to be confusing and to the detriment of my enjoyment. I have no doubt that I would appreciate this more on reread, but God forbid I ever read the convoluted first half again. I know this is a well-beloved book but it simply wasn't for me.
