Only His by Elizabeth Lowell

1.0

I think that 2-stars is being generous when it comes to this book, however, it's not as bad as a book I read earlier this week and as I can't give half-star ratings (making my view that this book deserves 1.5-stars) this will have to do.

Picked for the first 2020 episode of Romance isn't Dead, I ploughed through this book as quickly as I could. I didn't enjoy it over much. The characters were well-written, enough that I took an immediate dislike to the male protagonist. I am not sure how he expected anything to go his way, he was out for vengeance and kept on quoting the Old Testament "An eye for an eye" as though he hadn't read the more forgiving "Turn the other cheek" in the new book.

Willow was strong, determined and definitely oblivious to the fact that her guide was only with her (not because of the money she offered to pay, but it turned out she couldn't) to seek revenge for the seduction and death of his only beloved sister.

I am sad that I didn't like this Alpha, but he was misguided and downright nasty. Calling Willow a wh*** in a slightly less obvious way "Fancy lady", because he didn't believe her (admittedly weak) story that she was the wife of the man she was searching for. It's only after he's finally managed to seduce her that he realises she can't have been one of these fancy women...but the damage has been done, the thoughts are in Willow's head.

I am happy that they have a Happily Ever After, but admit that while I was reading it I was cheering her on when she fought back, when she said no and determined she was going to be the Mistress of her own fate...though it almost doesn't end well for her or anyone else!

My review is mine, and you may disagree with me. I would love to hear your thoughts on this book if it's one you've read and if you think I'm wrong in my views (bearing in mind they are only opinions) I would love to know what you liked about it...
