A Heart So Cold and Wicked by Rebecca F. Kenney
3.0
This is a Krampus retelling, and it would’ve been sweet if I knew the original Krampus story before reading a retelling, but hey! I enjoyed it.
The plot kept me hooked until I finished, and it is the first MF book I’ve read in ages. Some aspects of the story felt just right, though sometimes if felt like reading the same fantasy romance formula.
The girl, “the little sister”, was kidnapped when she was 6yo. Forced to witness unspeakable things and living in captivity for 14-16 years.
The Krampus, an exiled unseelie fae condemned to roam the world punishing evil doers, gets called to the cabin where the girl is kept. Setting her free, she doesn’t know where to go. Thus, starting their love story.
I expected a little more realistic recover from trauma. It felt like she became strong and confident in no time. It’s ok though, it’s not what this book was focusing on
