Big In Japan: Book One in the Gailsone Series by Casey Jason Glanders
5.0
This is a post-superhero world, where the good guys have won and the bad guys are retired, in hiding, or reformed. The story focuses on Alice Gailsone, a reformed supervillain. She is brought in for a special mission, somewhat reluctantly, and asked to put her costume on again for the cause of good. The story unfolds in a fast-paced blend of superhero comics and spy movies as she travels to Japan to find a missing person.
This is an impressive debut novel, showcasing a strong female lead who toes the line between what is right and what is necessary. The dialogue is sharp and is matched by the explosive action. I look forward to future novels in the planned series because I enjoyed these characters and want to spend more time with them.
I recommend it to fans of The Dresden Files, superhero comic books, and international intrigue.
