The Paper Palace by Miranda Cowley Heller

3.0

Elle Bishop is in the backwoods, a place that houses the cape cod cabin that her family has enjoyed for generations.
Elle awakes in the morning but something is different. She and her oldest friend have crossed a line and started a secret love affair. She has always loved Jonas, ever since they met in the backwood many years ago. They shared secret and tragedies together. Peter is her much loving husband and wonderful father. She and Peter have built the life she always imagined having.
Now she has to make a choice, her husband or Jonas.
This book unfolds between the present and past. The stories of Elle and her upbringing, the tragedies she has faced that turned her into the woman she is today.
I personally found this book a bit boring. It wasn’t my favourite story but it was written quite well. The only thing I found that I really connected with was the love of a cabin in the woods where childhood memories are made and persist. It made me crave a cottage trip to my family cottage that has been around for generations.
