Jester’s Mischief by Ethan Byrd
4.0
This was a short and sweet read!
I enjoyed following our characters on their collective adventure, and the premise of Jinx being a guardian of joy.
My only few points of constructive criticism:
1) I'm not sure exactly which age demographic this is for. It feels formatted for middle grades, but the vocabulary seems a bit advanced for this age group. (Note that I do not have kids and am not often around younger humans, so my perspective on this may be off!)
2) I'd love more "show, don't tell!" For example, Fizzlewit is supposed to be a character with a penchant for puns. I want to see her SAY some of those witty lines in the text. I wished we had dialogue, rather than exposition descriptions of what everyone is doing or discussing.
4/5 stars! I'd recommend this to anyone of any age who appreciates a good adventure with friends. :D
