Vengeance Day by Simon Dinsdale
4.0
With the idea of the prologue a different time eg November 1998 was a very cool idea as you get get to see something that may be important to the story prior to when the main events of the book start in chapter 1 which was twenty five years later. Liam the character in which we get to meet at the start was fascinating as he seemed pleased that he had finally achieved a goal which he had wanted to do. After seeing what the goal was and knowing that he was pleased that he had achieved this, it had instantly made me want to keep reading to be able to find out more about what this had to do with the full story of the book. With it then switch to Christian Dane’s perspective was very clever of the author as it allowed you to see the story and the events that had occurred from a different light. Christopher Dane as the main character was very intriguing especially as he is a detective superintendent and was in charge of the major investigation team for Essex Police. And with the way the author has introduced this character in this book made you want to find out more of what’s happened and what was going to happen. The fact that he couldn’t really remember the events that had led him to the position he was in kept me more gripped to the story. Getting to learn new information through the process of reading the book, there were part of it which shocked and surprised me as I hadn’t expected it. I was glad that we kept learning new information from the book regarding the investigation and what had happened previously. And with how the story ended, Christopher Dane is definitely a character which I would love to keep following with his investigations.
