This is my least favorite book in the series. It's baffling how we went from one of the most swoon-worthy heroes in the previous book to Clay, who is selfish and abrasive. The contrast in how both heroes respond to the trauma and the PTSD of the heroine is striking. Clay's lack of compassion and understanding and the demands he placed on Tally didn't sit well with me. By the end, I didn't dislike him as much but he still is my least favorite character out of all the protagonists.
So, why doesn't this book get a lower rating? Because I liked Tally as a character, and I appreciated that we learned so much about the humans, which had been largely unexplored in the previous books that focused on Psy and Changelings.
