A great collection of short stories showcasing everything Joe Abercrombie does best: his humor, his lovable terrible characters, the grittiness, and the ability to make the reader care about whatever happens. While I loved seeing characters from the novels again, the highlight was the short story exclusive crew of Shev and Javre who are featured in several of the tales.

Apart from the stories being engaging, this has what I deem even more important for a collection: variety. Some were funny, some really tense or dark, some more character- and others plot-focused, etc. This delivered everything I hoped for as a fan of the First Law with showing extra content for the stories I love and new plots and character moments to get lost in.
