Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop

4.0

This was an interesting read and I have mixed feelings about it.

The world-building was really well done (although it would have been nice to have a map as it was difficult to picture all the locations). The characters were intriguing and it was interesting to see the different points of view. The protagonist, a young Witch of twelve years old, was described by all other characters but the story was never told from her point of view - a unique decison that made her all the more mysterious.

There were some pedophiles in this book, however. I was hoping the love interest (at least seven centuries her senior) wouldn't get involved in such things but even he did, just a bit, with his "seduction tendrils". I liked him up until that part.

If you enjoy Game of Thrones and/or House of the Dragon (specifically Daemon and Rhaenyra's relationship), you'll love this book.
