Another GR reviewer described this book as a story about "two awkward, well-meaning, damaged middle-aged people" trying their best and that alone hooked me!

This was a little more romance-focused than I anticipated but I didn't mind. The humor and quirky characters helped make up for the simple world-building. It's a great read for anyone who likes romance and isn't sure about fantasy books! I laughed out loud several times and found the intimate scenes to be very realistic (which made them better.)

Good audiobook narrator!
