This book started off strong with it seeming like a fun ridiculous thriller but then it got ridiculous and not in a good way. I love thrillers where a group of people are secluded and one by one they start dying probably my favorite trope. I think my main issue with this book is that there was no urgency, people are dying and they want to play spin the bottle??? BE SERIOUS. The best part of premises like this is people not trusting each other and outcasting people and accusing each other. There were like scenes but it didn’t feel paranoid enough to me. Why are people eating breakfast like nothing happened the night before or going out to run like there is not a murderer on the loose? This book never felt rooted in reality and I know it’s a book about influencers on an island for a reality tv show, but that’s not an excuse to me. The funny thing is the first half of the book was great it felt a little bit like satire, but the author seemed aware of that and made it work. The 2nd half of this book just fell flat and it seemed the author just was doing anything that it became cartoonish. The reveal is nothing less than stupid and left me thinking, that’s it…
