This has been one of my favorites since I was a teenager and I was nervous to reread it in case it was disappointing. But I loved it and was reminded of what I love so much about Willa Cather's writing. So simple and concise with incredible character portraits. Very beautiful.
Graphic: Death and Terminal illness
Moderate: Suicidal thoughts and Suicide
Minor: Drug use, Gun violence, Racial slurs, and Forced institutionalization
This book centers around one woman's relationship with her husband. As she's dying she turns on him and sees him as her mortal enemy. I would say that ultimately the story is uplifting but there is some very painful relationship stuff especially around jealousy.
