Dare to Know by James Kennedy

Whoa. This book is a lot.
The first 20+ pages initially turned me off. It felt like the nameless main character was obnoxiously full of himself, but you quickly find out that he’s a bumbling idiot whose life is a mess. A bit of familiarity: he doesn’t often see himself how others do. (see his relationship with his sons)
Our MC works for a company that will predict the date you die. When he calculates his own death & finds that he is already dead, he takes us on a whirlwind adventure locating his ex, and trying to verify the algorithm.
The writing is, at times, frantic to match the journey our MC is on. The last 1/3 of the story feels like an acid trip. In the end our MC has to make a choice - sacrifice himself or the world. He makes his choice & treats us to an oddly fitting bit of 1980s Madonna in the process.
