There’s not much to this sweet, real-life story, but it does highlight the impact that Levar Burton had on so many children in the 1980’s and 90’s (myself included). I think younger readers might get a bit confused about what is real and what is imaginary. The text never makes it clear when the adventures describe are imaginary (based on the narrator’s viewings of Reading Rainbow), and the pictures only occasionally include a small image of the narrator watching the show in a corner of the page to help kids make the mental leap.
