Wow, what a ride! I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, given the ambiguous reviews I have read, but I was positively surprised. What starts as a more brutal version of "The Catcher in the Rye" quickly descends into the most abstruse depths of the human mind. The topic of religion, sin, and how not every sin is the same, adds another layer to the many topics this book touches, as the different stories around the characters unravel and show the horrors that human beings can be capable of doing to one another. I really enjoyed this book, even though it has a lot of harsh and graphical depictions of sensitive topics, which feel (together with the language) like a slap in the face in most cases.
