This is an extraordinary book. Of course, one probably reads it because one wants to read about meditation from a scientific point of view in order to see what effects it might have on the brain and body. But reading this you come away with so much more! For one thing, there is the delightful journey that Davidson and Goleman share about their relationship with meditation, their friendship, and their academic careers. It's wonderful to read this book and glean how they developed their studies, how they evolved over time, and what the results were of those studies. They also provide so many important paths forward for researchers in this field.
