I probably would have liked this more if I hadn't read Mary by this author first because that was amazing and this one fell a little short of that. The author's note at the end was great, and helped explain his ideas and that this book was a sort of therapy for him; I'm glad he was able to get what he needed from it. The premise is pretty straight forward, young family with a new baby moves into a dream apartment building and things go downhill from there. This story had a couple good creepy moments, but nothing screaming HORROR at all, unfortunately. Also, most of the characters were insufferable so it was very hard to care what happened to them. For a book this long, I expected better character development, more creepy scenes and perhaps a little more about the building and it's lore. There were a few thing eluded to earlier on, comments made about "that night" or past events, that were never expanded on. The audio narration was great so I do recommend consuming the book that way. I still really like Nat Cassidy and will read more of his work, this one just wasn't for me.
