Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain
3.0
I was a little disappointed by this book. It is about introverts. I felt as though the book was having a hard time finding a lane. It started with how to identify if you are an introvert, jumped over to Cain's personal experience, talked about the history of introverts, research on the personality type, famous introverts, how to work with introverts, if your partner is an introvert, different cultures (specifically Asian), and then if your kid is one. I applaud Cain's desire to take on many sides of the personality trait, however, I wish there was one book for each specific topic instead of one broad stroke. Although I found the material interesting, it is a very abstract concept and I felt like their definition saw the world in black and white (introverts vs. extroverts) but it is more complicated than that. It probably comes down to different expectations. I went into the book thinking it was a guidebook for how to work with introverts or be one in an extroverted society and it felt as though Cain was trying to prove that introverts exist in the first place.
