This is the first book in the Celestial Haven duet, a contemporary paranormal romance. Tropes include why choose (MFM), postpartum single FMC, mysteries, witchy fall vibes and found family. Please see content warnings and note this is a spicy book.
The Lovely: I loved the cozy vibes of this story along with the FMC, Oakley. I felt for her as she was just trying to adapt to her situation and find her place, while being a new mom. I also enjoyed her relationship with the two MMCs and how they treated her from the get go.
The Mundane: I struggled with the passage of time a lot over the course of this book. Near the start the FMC’s sister has been missing for three days and we learn went missing during the new moon. But the page before said the next day was the full moon. This makes no sense as it’s fourteen days between a new and full moon. This happens a few more times - no mention of such a long passage of time and the FMC doesn’t seem to be proportionally worried that so much time has passed since her sister’s disappearance. This was frustratingly distracting to me as I read and pulled me out of the story.
Rating: 3.5/5 Stars 2/5 Flames
Recommendation: The story ends on a kind of HEA for know but it’s clear big changes are coming for Oakley in the second book of the duology. If you likee magical realism and why choose, and/or a new mom FMC, I think you might like this book.
