The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin
5.0
I always know when I stumble on an especially good book when, outside of reading (or listening, in this case), I’ll have this feeling like I’ve just watched this amazing TV show and what was it I was watching? Oh yeah, it was actually just me reading this book but it was so intense and vivid that it FELT like watching a really good TV show. The characters!!! The setting!!! The plot!!! It’s all incredible. Highlight has to be the Innon/Alabaster/Syenite throuple. Sometimes a family is an affection dihedron and that’s okay!! (That bit where Syenite mentions Koru’s “fathers” may have absolutely devastated me.) Was DEEPLY GREATLY IMPOSSIBLY stressed out during those last few chapters. This book somehow NEVER dragged on in spite of its length. M A S T E R P I E C E
