I hadn’t had time to read the serial on Patreon, but as soon as I could get my hands on the book, I didn’t hesitate for a moment. Two days later, I found myself once again with a book hangover to nurse. One thing is for sure, I really loved reading A Guide to Ghosting—and as usual with Emily Antoinette’s books, the cover is gorgeous.
Since I discovered Emily Antoinette, she has quickly become one of my favourite authors. Thanks to her stories—and those of other authors I discovered at the same time—being plus-size is no longer synonymous with being impossible to love. Although these romances are fictional, the emotions they convey for plus-size people are very real.
A Guide to Ghosting features two plus-size characters and I really enjoyed that. I tend to come across stories where the curvy characters are FMCs rather than MMCs and all genders deserve to be loved no matter their size. Although some elements of this book may seem a little tough, there is enough sweetness in it to make you accept that, just like in real life, the characters’ lives can’t always be a smooth ride.
I really liked Dot’s sense of humour, which is both dark and sharp. She’s a smart young woman who hides an immense kindness behind a wall of defensiveness. Although she wants revenge on Noah, she quickly realises—as do we—that it’s not in her personality to be cruel. Noah, for his part, is a marshmallow; he’s both sweet and comforting. Despite the obstacles life has thrown in his way, and despite his gruff exterior, this man is a real cinnamon roll, just the way we like them. It’s impossible not to notice that these two souls were made for each other.
As always in the world of Moonvale, I enjoyed seeing characters we’ve met before. Max and Nugget were both crucial to the plot—I’m only exaggerating a little. I also enjoyed seeing Emma, Noah’s sister, whom I first discovered in Emily Antoinette’s new serial on Patreon.
If you don’t know who Emily Antoinette is yet, or if you haven’t had the chance to read one of her books, go for it; you won’t be disappointed for a moment.
