Do the Birds Still Sing in Hell? by Horace Greasley

5.0

If you only read one book this year, make sure it's this one. Through the hell and devastation of war comes a true, love story that will pull even the hardiest of heart strings. Be prepared to go through every emotion; anger, laughter, joy and sadness as you discover the true meaning of friendship, love and loyalty.

The last ten chapters are the most gripping and really immerse you in the story. This has become my new favourite book. I would love to know what happened to Horace after the war but then I doubt, that with the greatest respect, it could better this.

If this isn't made into a film I'll be surprised (and dumbfounded). If it is, I'll be the first in the queue at the cinema.

The only downside for me is that I fear now, this will be the benchmark for every other book I read, and I will be utterly disappointed.

Amazing.
