Thank you to the author, Clarissa Harwood, for the opportunity to read and review her book before it's publication date! This in no way affected my review, opinions are my own.

This book is billed as "Jane Eyre meets The Secret Garden" and I wish I could be original enough to come up with my own way to describe it but honestly, that is just TOO. PERFECT. It's exactly what this book is, but it's also so much more??

I genuinely loved this gothic tale - I have read both of Clarissa Harwood's other books (Impossible Saints and Bear No Malice) and although this is definitely a different feel I loved it just as much. Her writing is so immersive - once you start it's going to be near impossible to put it down, I'm telling you!

It was such a perfect homage to both source materials without being *too* similar - all the touches of Jane Eyre (gothic manor filled with secrets and mystery and hidden stories) mixed with Secret Garden (Mary + Colin + Dixon + a garden + a touch of romance)- all partnered with a forward thinking independent woman in the late 1800s (GET IT GIRL).

Seriously could not recommend this one more, especially if you need one more for the end of October's spooky season!
