So controversial opinion, I feel really meh about this book. While I love Steinbeck's prose, I just didn't find myself caring about most of the characters at all. Lee is basically the only person that I was attached to.
You know those movies that were popular in the early 2000s where you follow several different characters and then throughout the movie you slowly find out why they were connected? This felt like that but with generational ties as well. Generally novels that follow several generations aren't my thing anyways so maybe that was part of it.
I'm not sad I read it because again, I love his prose, and nothing was ever wrong or boring enough to stop reading. Now that I'm finished, just feel not very impacted by the story as a whole.
