Cock & Bull by Laura Barnard
3.0
Growing up with hippie parents sister's Phoebe and Ella have never had much to call their own, so when they inherit a pub in Ireland from an Aunt they've never heard of they can't believe their luck. With nothing to keep them in England they quickly make the decision to move and fix up the bar in
hopes of making a little easy money. But when they arrive they find they've inherited a total dump, a pet skunk and an overly aggressive rival pub owner determined to either buy them out or destroy them. They are overwhelmed and underfunded without a clue where start - until the sexy but arrogant Clooney Breen comes to the rescue with with an offer to help and surprising expertise in exchange for a place to stay. Phoebe can't resist an offer like that any more than she can resist the charming Irishman who made it, and soon sparks begin to fly.
I did have a bit of an issue with Clooney's attitude. I guess it was necessary to emphasize his secrets and his past but for me it was just a giant red flag that I would never put up with in real life, so it made the book a little less fun for me. Even so this is a really cute & fun book, with a bit of small town romance, a bit of enemies to lovers and a bit of comedy. Its also a little kooky with a huge surprise that I won't spoil but will definitely shock and entertain you! This would be a great beach/vacation read.
