The Hunted Heir by Holly Renee

3.0

This book was one of my most anticipated reads after how much adored the first book in this series. The Hunted Heir felt completely different than the first book and I just didn't enjoy it as much as I did The Veiled Kingdom.

I did enjoy seeing Verena coming into more of her powers and learning more about her abilities. She is still the headstrong and fierce character I loved from the first book.

Dacre, my favourite character from The Veiled Kingdom, has a complete personality flip in this book that I didn't enjoy. I understand that he has a lot to make up for after the events of the first book but he just feels like a completely different character. The spice in this story has glimpses of the chemistry and tension Verena and Dacre had in first book that is otherwise lacking in The Hunted Heir.

This story is also extremely short at just over 200 pages. There was very little movement in the plot and with it being so short there were a few parts that felt very rushed.

I love Holly's books so much but this one just really missed the mark for me. I will probably still read the last book in this series because I still want to see how it all ends.

Reading is very personal and even though I did not enjoy this book you may if you enjoy:

One Bed
Forced Proximity
Enemies to Lovers Romance

Thank you to Holly and Valentine PR for the ARC copy of The Hunted Heir. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
