An Echo of Things to Come by James Islington

4.0

as expected, LOVED!! the only thing stopping this book from a 5 star rating is at times I felt left in the dark about the history in this world...

as a core character was randomly regaining his memories throughout the entire book about distant lands and concepts, with new characters as well, it was hard to adjust to the sudden change of pace and different environment... because of that I felt a bit dumb trying to work it out.

But ultimately I did trust that Islington would explain the parts that needed to be remembered later on down the track and I think he did that successfully... I just felt like if a bit more detail on why this information was important, I would've appreciated it a bit more.

despite this, Islington is such an incredible writer, with his empathetic characters and incredibly complicated and sexy magic system... also with that mf epilogue, I'm moving right onto the last book and I'm so excited!!
